Who Am I

I'm Preetish Venkatramanan. I'm currently pursuing a Master of Science in Finance, specialising in Investment Finance, at NUS, after completing a dual degree in Business Analytics and Computer Science at NTU. I'm also a CFA Level I candidate. I started this site after noticing the same thing happen too many times: a headline breaks somewhere in the world, and the interesting part starts right where the article ends. This is where I keep tracing it further, until it lands somewhere real: a market, a currency, someone's monthly budget.

That habit didn't start in a classroom. Since February 2023, I've managed operations and finance for my family's agricultural commodities business, including procurement, exports, shipment planning, and the margins sitting underneath all of it. I also manage a portion of our family's investment portfolio, spread across equities, fixed income, and gold. You read about how global events move through a business and a portfolio differently once you're the one who has to account for it. That's what actually got me paying attention. My internships built on it from there. At TCS, I built dashboards and ran machine learning models to track growth and performance metrics. At CPF, I worked on cloud infrastructure and compliance systems. At iNextLabs, I worked on AI-driven solutions for financial and audit workflows.

Splitting my time between India and Singapore makes these connections hard to ignore. A conflict in Europe affects crude oil prices. Crude oil prices affect fuel costs in India and grocery prices in Singapore. A Federal Reserve rate decision, or even a single sentence from a politician, changes what the rupee is worth a year later. It reminds me of the butterfly effect: a small change, or a single word, can alter the fate of companies and the lives of many. None of this is abstract when you're sending money between the two countries, or managing a portfolio that has to account for both.

This site is where I put those observations together properly instead of leaving them as half-formed notes. Each article is based on an actual incident, say a market move, a policy decision, or a supply chain disruption and traces how it reverberated across different regions, backed by real numbers and publicly available evidence.

I'm currently focused on research and investment roles in finance, and this site is one way of showing how I think about markets, not just telling you.
